We were having a discussion with a customer, and had to explain this point in a little more detail, and it actually helps not only explain the question, but how subliminals work generally

First of all it really doesn’t matter that the affirmations are recorded by us, and not in YOUR voice.

If you use a hypnosis CD, or visit a hypnotist he is obviously the one who will do the talking, and place suggestions in your mind. These suggestions are in many cases just affirmations, but spoken to you while you are deep in a trance.

However, being in a trance is not strictly required, it will just be a more gradual effect if you are fully conscious (i.e. with subliminal messages) – for instance (sneaky) sales people on the phone and in stores use “conversational hypnosis” techniques and leading language to get you into a frame of mind and nudge you into buying – you can be lead to change your behaviour by a suggestion, it does not matter who is giving the suggestion.
