Motivation or lack thereof is the killer of dreams.   1. Stop Procrastinating: If motivation is the killer of dreams procrastination is its sidekick – the more you procrastinate the less motivation you will have. Strike while your motivation is at its peak, before procrastination eats it away.
  2. Eliminate all Negativity: Even negativity from others gets us down, so control your own negativity and only think positively about your goal, how it will feel to reach it, and ignore all the bad. And instead of letting family and friends infect you with disbelief from their negative thoughts use their criticism and negativity to fuel the fire within you. Want to prove them wrong, and ignite your self motivation skills even higher.
  3. Take Responsibility: Blaming others for your lack of motivation is a waste of time and will only ensure our frustration and even anger levels increase. Once you take responsibility for your own motivation, and understand that it is down to you alone you will feel differently. You won’t let other people affect you, and will understand that you are in full control of how motivated you are, or are not.
  4. Be Realistic: Set goals that are attainable. Setting goals too big leads to frustration and we soon find ourselves lacking heavily in motivation. If you set smaller goals which all build up to a big goal you will not only reach it eventually, but you will feel better and better with each small goal you reach. This will in turn spur you on and further increase your motivation.
  5. Make Concrete Plans: Failing to plan is planning to fail. If you follow a strict written plan you will stay motivated, and focused – you will know what you have to do to get where you want to be, and you won’t get frustrated..
  6. Give Yourself Rewards: Most of all pursuing your goals and dreams should be fun – it is often not about the end result, but the journey there. Celebrate each success and you will be happier, more positive, and you will stay motivated throughout the project.
